A little care goes a long way. Follow these steps to keep your 925 sterling silver pieces looking flawless.
- Put jewellery on last. Apply perfume, hairspray, lotion, and sunscreen before wearing your pieces. Chemicals can dull the finish and cloud gemstones.
- Remove before water exposure. Take off your jewellery before showering, swimming, or washing dishes. Prolonged moisture accelerates tarnish on sterling silver.
- Clean gently after each wear. Wipe with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove oils. For a deeper clean, use a silver polishing cloth or mild soap with lukewarm water, then pat dry.
- Store with care. Keep each piece in a soft pouch or lined jewellery box, separated from other items. A cool, dry location away from direct sunlight is ideal.
- Add a silica packet. A small silica-gel sachet inside your storage absorbs moisture and slows tarnishing — a simple trick that makes a big difference.
